Sweet inspiration

One of the hottest trends in weddings today is the Candy Bar at the cocktail reception. And I’m not talking about a bar of chocolate, I mean a candy BAR. It’s fun, creative, and brings out the kid in each of us. Candy buffets are typically offered at the cocktail reception, but can also be offered at the dinner reception right along with dessert. I love the candy bar idea, because it is relatively inexpensive, candy is enjoyed by almost everyone, and you can work it into your theme. If you’re doing a throwback to your childhood, serve all the classic favorites from when you were a kid. If you’re doing a color theme, a monochromatic candy bar looks very chic. Find a bunch of oversized jars in varying heights and diameters to give texture to the presentation. Even offer mini candy buffets of 4-5 different candies on each table.

If you’re afraid your guests will spoil their appetites by eating all that candy, why not have them take it home instead? Here’s a favor idea for you.set an empty jar, box, or favor bag of your choosing at each guest’s setting, and urge them to choose their own favorite treat to take home. Make sure to know how much candy each box/jar/bag can hold, therefore how much candy you should purchase to accommodate all of your guests. Tie individual hang tags on each box/jar/bag with instructions on what to do. Or have an instruction card printed for each table. Not only are they going to love it. Think of all the work you will save not having to fill each favor yourself!
