Can your guests easily bring them home? Don’t worry – it’s really not complicated at all. All you have to do is keep a few things in mind. Take a look at our checklist below for helpful destination wedding favor tips and have fun getting inspired and choosing favors for your own wedding!

1) Check Customs

Many agricultural products such as fruits, preservatives, and plants are not allowed to enter foreign countries. That’s why it’s necessary to check with wherever it is you’re getting married to see what favors are and are not allowed. You don’t want to pay for, pack, or ship items that end up going unused thanks to legal issues.

2) Packaging

Personalized packaging, such as boxes or bags that lay flat and are easy to pack in a bag for the car or a plane are perfect for favors. Once you get to your destination,  shop locally for goodies such as pastries or candies as fillers in your packaging.

3) Liquids

Liquid favors such as lotion, sunblock, or hand sanitizer are great picks – but remember that traveling with liquids can be tricky. If you have more than the limit of liquid allowed on an airplane, then the favors will not be allowed to go with you. Instead, ship these items to the hotel in advance. All you have to do is call the hotel beforehand to ask them to hold on to your packages until you get there.

4) Non-fragile

If you must have items shipped to your home first, then we suggest selecting favors that won’t break during transportation. Some of our favorite non-fragile favors include cork coasters and personalized stadium plastic cups.

5) Practicality

You want to choose items that are easy for your guests to carry and pack. Think light and sturdy items that are allowed back home with your guests. Favors such as bottle stoppers or personalized lip balm make great options.
