Hello Spring! Today is the first day of spring and we couldn’t be happier about it. The sun is shining, the air smells divinely fresh, and the weddings… well the weddings are sublimely “spring-y”!

Whether you’re hosting your own spring wedding or just attending one in the upcoming months, start planning now to stay on top of the latest spring trends for 2014.

Plain pastels are so last season. This year, make room for bold. The spring color trends for 2014 are brighter and richer than what you might have imagined. Thanks to Pantone’s Spring 2014 Color Report, we see that the spring color palette is ranging from soft pastels all the way to energetic brights, with neutral grays and beiges to bridge the gap. The color combinations are bold, contradicting yet balanced, and so much more exciting than humdrum shades of pale.

To fully experience this spring color trend, try to apply these colors to your event. Mix and match dresses, linens, and even desserts to achieve a contrasting spring look.

Another big trend to watch out for this spring is the use of print. Expect to find print everywhere. Linens, clothing, wallpaper, anything that has a canvas will likely be printed. Our print call outs are chevron (already popular but still going strong), florals, and geometric designs.

Easily incorporate this trend with table linens, printed napkins, and/or decorated invitations.

Keep an eye out for “Refined Rustic” this spring. This look adds shine and pops of color to more simple and casual pieces to give it a sophisticated look. Essentially, this look is a more pulled-together version of shabby chic (just think more chic than shabby).

Get this look by pairing natural materials like burlap or wood with shiny metallic details for a polished end result.

Dress Trends

Feminine and flirty leads the way in spring trends when it comes to dresses this year. Expect to find plenty of lace, tea length skirts, and fringe. These girly details are contrasted by more daring details like sheer materials, hardware embellishments, and dramatic backs.

In case you haven’t picked up on it yet, spring 2014 is calling for contradiction (and lots of it). Soft is paired with hard, pale blends with bright, and girly meets edgy, this is the look for spring ’14.

Accessory Trends

A simple and affordable way to interject a bit of trend is by way of accessories. This spring, the trend for accessories is similar to the trend in design. Look for more refined versions of rustic looks. Art deco and vintage inspired pieces are the front-runners.

Another big accessory trend for spring 2014 is the use of floral crowns and braided hair. Both looks are quintessentially spring and look great on the brides, bridesmaids, and flower girls.
