Pick a theme or color scheme

Whether you want to host a holiday party inspired by one of your favorite Christmas movies, a color scheme, or Christmas in your favorite city, choosing a theme is immensely helpful for creating a menu, choosing decorations, and deciding on a dress code. The theme can be anything you like, so get creative! We recently hosted a cookie exchange party that was a huge success and featured a mint, red, and white color palette, twinkle lights, and of course lots of cookies.

Simple Menu

For last minute meal prepping, we say grab some appetizer essentials such as cheese, crackers, and salami as well as plenty of canned or bottled beverages. Another great idea is to deem the party “potluck style”. That way, you’ll get tons of help with food prep. In fact, you may only have to worry about an appetizer or two. Be sure to ask your guests what they plan on bringing so you can pick up any missing items. Don’t want to ask guests to cook? Head over to your local deli and/or bakery for some bite-sized goodies.

Presentation

When it comes to preparing your party space last minute, only worry about cleaning up the main rooms you know will be in use. (Typically, the entryway, kitchen, living room, and bathroom.)  When it comes to decorations, keep it simple! Some garland, ornaments, and stockings make for great decorations and we bet you already have some set up in your home. Even your Christmas tree with gifts underneath counts. Want more? Shop for decorations, festive supplies, and more that will ship next day and make it in time for your party.

Music

No need to dig out old records or CDs. When it comes to music,  just hook up your phone to a speaker! There are plenty of playlists or channels to choose from through Spotify and Pandora. Plus, your guests can take turns playing music of their own.
