Here in the U.S., one of the most colorful celebrations of heritage and culture is right around the corner – Cinco de Mayo! Throughout the years, the holiday has transitioned from an anniversary marking Mexican independence into a colorful cultural celebration.
Is there anything better than a fiesta? We don’t think so!
With the grand fiesta rapidly approaching, why not say “¡si!” to a colorful Cinco de Mayo themed wedding?
Decorations that Dazzle
You can always choose to decorate in the traditional Mexican colors of red, white, and green. However, the fun really starts when you get crazy colorful with hot pinks, oranges, bright greens, yellows, and blues. Some brides even incorporated sugar skulls from Mexican Day of the Dead celebrations. Finish off the décor with pretty piñatas and colorful cascarones, or confetti eggs!

Food (and Drink!) for the Fiesta
It doesn’t matter whether your tastes are more traditional Mexican or lean toward Tex-Mex. A Cinco de Mayo wedding is the perfect time to incorporate all those tasty treats you crave. Get creative – a colorful salsa bar is a great way to serve snacks and complement the décor! Cakes can be colorful or kitschy, as long as there are plenty of traditional Mexican wedding cookies to go around. Finish off the feast with sweet non-alcoholic Jarritos or the time-tested classic, margaritas!

Best Bets for the Bridal Party
We saved the best for last – the bridal party! Get ready for the big day with a pitcher of sangria and a tasty combo of chips and dip. Some brides opt for cute and colorful china poblana dresses for their bridesmaids, while others keep it simple with elegant embroidered sheath dresses. No matter your style, everyone can enjoy playing with colorful maracas and discovering piñata prizes while being serenaded by mariachis!
