Happy Hunger Games release day! The highly anticipated sequel of this adventure film series is released in the United States today and as a nod to this popular novel and film, we thought it’d be fun to create a Hunger Games inspired wedding post. And fun was had indeed!
The Hunger Games theme proved extremely creative. From hairstyles, table settings, wedding favors… Let’s just say, this theme can be as fantastically colorful as the city of Panem, or as natural and woodsy as Katniss and Gale themselves.
A Katniss Inspired ‘Do

Loose and creative braids topped with floral arrangements are an extremely ethereal look that captures the essence of Katniss and her staple braided locks. The lovely flowers are a fitting tribute to her final moments with Rue.

We simply adore this Capitol inspired look from Hostess with the Mostess. The ingenuous use of the flower Birds of Paradise was dried and color enhanced red and orange to represent fire.

Nightlock Berries

Blame it on Shakespeare, but there’s just something about poisonous sacrifices that seem “tres romantique”. Katniss and Peeta take this to heart as they were prepared to ingest the poisonous Nightlock berries during their ruse as star crossed lovers. Have a little fun with this theme! Make your own “Nightlock Berry Jam” as favors for guests. Or take symbolic pictures to represent your undying love. Till death do us part right!?

Mockingjay

The Mockingjay is a centric-theme to the Hunger Games series and it’s quite easy to interject throughout your wedding. String paper cranes from the ceilings or walls for an “in-flight” appearance. You can also adorn your cake or wear the actual pin as Katniss does throughout the story.
