We had such a blast making this garland and we’re absolutely in love with the end-results. Make your own version now with this easy to follow guide.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
For the perfect shabby chic look, opt for floral, soft pastel, and lace inspired fabrics. We used the following materials:
- 4 patterned fabrics (1 yard each)
- 3 yards of lace ribbon
- 2 yards of rope
- ruler or measuring tape
- scissors
- pencil
Let’s Get This Party Started Right
With your pencil and ruler, measure your dimensions. Our lace ribbon measured 2″ wide so we used that as the benchmark, marking a small dash at every 2 inch interval.
PRO TIP: Mark your measurements on the reverse side of the fabric. This avoids any visible markings on the finished product.
Try to cut the fabric straight and even. However… seeing as this look is “shabby chic”, slight variations are forgivable as too “matchy-matchy” pieces may deviate from the desired natural and soft finish.
Time To Assemble
Decide on your pattern arrangement and begin to knot each strip onto the rope. Start in the middle and work your way out till you reach your desired garland width.
PRO TIP: Tie strips at different lengths to give a staggered and cozily unkempt look.
The End Result
With just a few materials and easy steps, you’ve created a gorgeous shabby chic fabric fringe garland. Go ahead and proudly display this work of art around the house or at an upcoming soiree. Your guests will be gushing over this item!
