Happy Leap Day! | A Quick Explanation For The 29th Day Of February

Happy Leap Day from us to you! We love that we get an extra day of celebrating in 2016, but can’t help but think how funny it is that February 29th only comes around every four years. Why is that anyways? We did a little research to find out.

To put it plain and simple, we get an extra day in February every four years because of our solar system. A complete orbit of the Earth takes exactly  365.2422 days (although we tend to just say 365 days). So in order to keep our clocks and calendars in sync with the seasons, we have an extra day included in February. We say take advantage of the extra day this year by doing something you love! After all, what’s not to celebrate about an extra day of fun!
