Mary Phan of Very Merry Events specializes in creating fun, personal, and unique events for stylish folks. We asked her to tell us about her favorite 2013 wedding trends, and here’s what she had to say:

2013 wedding trends have definitely done away with the traditional, stodgy, and super stuffy weddings of the past.  This promises to be a year full of fun, festivities, and a rebirth of elegance with a party atmosphere.

A BIG trend this year is geometric patterns, which can be incorporated in so many ways.  As seen in the image below, glass geometric terrariums make excellent centerpieces and double as fabulous take-home finds.  Your guests will rave about how awesome they look at your wedding, and I can’t promise they won’t fight for the chance to take home these unique pieces.

If you are as much of a Pinterest fanatic as I am, you already know that Emerald is the new hot Pantone color of the year.  I was quite enamored with this bold statement and the glamour of what this color represents.  I think you’ll start to see bold green statements added to attire and the overall wedding color palette.

Emerald pairs nicely with accents of gold and glitter.  Gold can be mixed in anywhere, as seen with the gold cake in the picture above.  Although emerald often evokes an air of regalness, I’m starting to see weddings with more of a dance party vibe. It comes as no surprise that some brides want to change into a glittery dresses for dancing or have their bridesmaids sport sparkly little numbers.  It’s a really fun way to jazz up any event and nothing says a good time like glitter!

Lastly, there is a big movement toward including creative artisty such as hand lettering and painting. Watercolor can be quite beautiful and subtle in creating a cohesive look. I am a huge fan of watercolor and if you haven’t already noticed,  you’ll start to see this more and more in invitations and stationery goods. The great thing is these little artistic touches can add personal flair to a variety of items you need for your special day.

To all those looking into this year’s trends, I hope you this post jump starts your own wedding planning with a few creative ideas that are sure to leave your wedding attendees green with envy.
