Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a great leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. While his name and reputation is familiar to many worldwide, there are some things that you may not already be aware of.

To celebrate his honor, here are 5 fun facts about Dr. King.
1) He’s One Smart Cookie
Dr. King impressively skipped two grades. He skipped 9th and 12th grade and entered Moorehouse College at the mere age of 15.
2) He’s Everywhere
Well… his name that is. There are currently over 900 streets named after Martin Luther King, Jr. around the world.
3) Honeymooned at a Funeral Parlor
The newlywed couple spent their honeymoon at a friend’s funeral parlor, as they were unable to stay in a white-owned hotel.
4) Grammy Award Winner
King won a Grammy in 1971 for Best Spoken Word Album for “Why I Oppose the War in Vietnam”.
5) Public Speaking
Although King is a renowned public speaker with over thousands of speeches under his belt, few know that he received a C in public speaking during his first year at seminary.
