More often than not, it seems that weddings are traditionally seen as an afternoon or evening event including elaborate decor, dinner, cocktails, and dancing well into the night. But if you’re looking for a more casual alternative, then you’re going to love the latest wedding trend — brunch weddings.
What we especially love about brunch weddings, is the opportunity to be playful and creative and of course, all the delicious treats that come along with brunch. Plus, when you wed in the morning, that leaves the rest of the day for chatting, dancing, and playing games with your loved ones! You also shouldn’t feel the need to get so dolled up — an airy dress, flat shoes, and a no-fuss hairstyle are really all you need to look amazing! For more fun brunch wedding ideas, take a look at our suggestions below and be sure to let us know what you think of this playful trend.
What time should a brunch wedding start?
While this is just a suggestion, this schedule should be helpful when planning.
- 5 am-8:30 am — Get ready, primp.
- 8:45 – First look, bride and groom photos.
- 9:30 am – Ceremony.
- 10-11 am — Photos with immediate family and the bridal party / Drinks and appetizers for guests.
- 11:00-12:30 – Brunch.
- 12:30-3:30 – Reception (mingling, dancing, games, etc.)
What to serve at a brunch wedding
Just because it’s morning, doesn’t mean you can’t have alcohol. Mimosas and Bloody Marys are a must! Plus, there are so many delicious non-alcoholic beverages to sip on like, coffee, tea, milk, juice, cider, and hot chocolate. These are not only great drinks to sip on during brunch, but also a great alternative to “cocktail hour”. Beverages will keep guests satisfied until the food is served.
If you ask us, the best part of brunch is definitely all the delicious foods, so be sure serve up your favorites! Think pancakes, waffles, or omelets for “main courses” and donuts, french toast sticks, muffins, and scones for “appetizers”. You may also want to include fruit, cereal, quiche, bacon, sausage, or fried chicken. (For chicken and waffles, of course!) And don’t forget about extras like syrup, hot sauce, and whipped cream. Consider serving the food buffet style so that guests can fill their plate with all their favorites.
Supplies for a brunch wedding
For a brunch wedding, we specifically think of a few supplies you’ll need including utensils, napkins, plates, bowls, and mugs or cups. You may want to also include fun extras like coasters, straws, and stirrers. And don’t forget to personalize as many supplies as you can for an extra special touch!
Decorations for a brunch wedding
A brunch wedding allows for some fun, quirky decorations such as fruit, coffee beans, newspapers, and crossword puzzles! (Psst, newspapers and crossword puzzles double as fun activities!) Try using them as centerpieces or accent pieces.
Favors for a brunch wedding
As far as favors, we especially love the idea of sending your brunch wedding guests home with a sweet treat. Packaged granola, honey, or jam make good options. So does pancake mix and syrup or personalized mugs.To package your favors, consider bags, jars, bottles, or boxes, and don’t forget about personalized labels.
What do you think of the brunch wedding trend? Would you consider getting married mid morning?
