2013 is shaping up to be an amazing year for wedding themes. In the first half of the year, we saw a lot of rustic elements and Gatsby-inspired Roaring 20s weddings. But as we head into the height of summer, we’re seeing a shift in styles from Gatsby-esque indulgence to the clean lines of the 60s.
We are head over heels for this mid-century modern trend with its glittery gold accents and plush outdoor lounges.
Thanks to the continuing popularity of the AMC show Mad Men, brides are falling in love with “mod” and its bold Art Deco-style prints and bright colors. And it’s easy to see why! This theme embraces the ultra-feminine – soft curls and side-swept hairdos, minimal makeup and jewels, structured tea-length dresses, and classic pumps.

With this trend toward ’60s glam is a movement toward more formality. We’re seeing this with assigned place settings at receptions, a structured multi-course meal, and of course – golden accents.
Thanks to its brilliant shine, gold makes a perfect accent to the bold earth tones that were popular in that era. To this day, gold is a great way to glam up any event – a little goes a long way!

And rounding out our gathering of all things glam is the trend toward ultra-comfy outdoor setups for the wedding reception. Brides and grooms are bringing the indoors outside with plush couches and chairs, decorative indoor furniture, and creative lighting.
This setup is perfect for wedding receptions because it establishes an area for lounging that encourages guests to relax and chat with one another. And of course, the newlyweds get their own special comfy chairs so they can celebrate like royalty!
