If you’re planning to have a small and intimate baby shower, then hosting it in Vegas is not the way to go! My best friend from high school is now 7 months pregnant and her sister and I decided to host an unforgettable baby shower celebrating the upcoming birth of her daughter.
Being a parent is rewarding, but a lot of hard work. So, before having her life fully consumed with baby food, burp, and diapers for the next few years, we decided to have one last hurrah, and where better than Vegas? It actually started as a joke, but as the idea spread, everyone seemed pretty excited about it.
Many of the lucky couple’s friends flew in from New York and San Francisco throughout the weekend (nothing attracts people to a baby shower like having it in Vegas). There’s was nothing babyish about it other than a few pink balloons and perhaps some rubbing of the big belly for good luck. And of course a couple of popular baby shower games like baby bingo and the never say “baby” game.
The shower was located at the grandparent-to-be’s house in Henderson, NV, where many of the guests were invited to stay as well. The theme to go with the location was “happy hour.” We served appetizers, fruit, veggie platters, and pizza. The bar was stocked with an assortment of beer, cocktail options, and iced tea for the mommy to be. For favors, I passed out these cocktail jelly beans, mini martini glasses, and finished it with a personalized tag.
Many trips were made to the Las Vegas strip to drink, dance, dine, and of course, gamble. Who knew a baby shower can be so much fun?
