With Thanksgiving approaching quickly, we’ve been thinking of ways that we could celebrate the holiday in a bit more modern way. We personally love playing with colors and textures to get new looks and because the dinner table is such a vital part of Thanksgiving, we thought what better way to modernize the holiday than a table with a non-traditional color palette that feels both simple and grand. We went ahead and took inspiration from real Thanksgiving tables, photo shoots, and weddings and found 5 beautiful setups worthy of your modern Thanksgiving tablescape. We pulled colors from actual images to give you a helpful color palette and even included advice and some of our favorite products that we believe would go beautifully with each table. This tablescape combines colors such as gray, gold, silver, copper, plum, pink, green, and burnt orange beautifully. These colors may seem like an odd combo, but with gray as its base, each color accent magically fits together. Some feature that stood out to us most include the gold rimmed glassware (much like the one we DIY’d), the playful “thankful” tags, the stir sticks, some decorative owls, the mini copper Moscow mules, and the takeout boxes for any leftovers. This whole table looks like a colorful Thanksgiving table upgrade and although traditional fall colors aren’t included (the common bright red, orange, and yellow) the look of this table still makes us feel like it’s time to sit down to a Turkey dinner.

This table makes us feel looks both rustic and elegant and manages to capture the look and feel of fall with hints of orange, gold, and bronze across an otherwise very neutral table. The touch of lace on the wood table adds beautiful texture and the tall candlesticks, wine glasses, floral table runner, and decorative leaf plates make us feel like we are at a whimsical, yet elegant Thanksgiving dinner. If we had to add anything, we would go for some gold tea light holders, glass bell jars for serving, and personalized stemless wine glasses to let our loved ones take home as a keepsake.

The most traditional looking of the bunch, this table definitely feels like a fall setting due to its deep reds, hints of orange and bronze, pumpkins, and the cornucopia centerpiece. But what we love about it most is that while it is obviously designed to look formal, it somehow still feels casual – like we are about to sit down to a special meal but it’s okay to not be dressed up. What does it for us are the hints of burlap and brown paper and the simplicity of the white bowls. To get a similar natural yet sophisticated look, we would use pinecone firestarters for decor that doubles as favors, pumpkin vases, and this monogrammed burlap table runner. Then fancy it up a bit with cloth napkins and napkin rings.

Black may not be the first color that comes to mind when you think about Thanksgiving, but it sure does convey the term modern. Combined with rustic, natural colors such as cream, bronze, brown, tan, and sage green, this table looks both refined and simple. The main centerpiece of dried foxtail infused with a few pheasant feathers is very earthy and being wrapped in a bronze satin ribbon makes it look like a sophisticated piece. Clear glassware and simple white plates keep this table looking clean while the candlesticks and multiple floral centerpieces bring some glam to this table. If we had to add anything to this table, we would choose these black and white damask glass tealight holders for some glow and these gold feather frames that could be used as place card holders, mini menu holders, and favors. We just love how modern and earthy it is while still being so inviting and fall feeling with its natural color palette.

Blue really doesn’t get enough credit in the fall. We personally can’t get enough of this navy blue, copper, gray, white, and brown tablescape. It feels very coastal and tranquil because of the white and navy, yet still fall appropriate with the touch of rich copper. We love how a few pumpkins were incorporated into the decor and the tall candlesticks and vintage glassware convey that this table is in fact set for a special meal. Our favorite thing about this table is definitely the contrast of copper and navy against wood. To get a similar look, we suggest using copper place card holders and vintage colored tealight holders. White porcelain flower vases would also make a beautiful addition.
