Fall colors should be warm, inviting, and a bit muted. When we think of traditional fall colors, we think of hues such as red, orange, plum, olive green, and tan. You should experiment with which colors you like mixed togehter and how bright or muted they should be. The color palette above is a great place to start!

Leaves

One of the most special traits of fall is all of the colorful leaves and we love the idea of using leaves in your fall wedding. Leaves as place cards and boutonnieres is just the beginning – check out all of our favorite ideas with our Spice Up Your Fall Wedding With Leaves post for even more ideas!

Flowers

Going back to color palettes, we suggest using a variety of flowers in the variations of red, orange, yellow, dark green, and plum. And don’t be afraid to mix in some accent pieces such as leaves or feathers. Fall means the weather is finally cooling down and that means it’s time to warm our bellies with some savory comfort food. We love the idea of serving foods such as soup or mac & cheese. Fall just wouldn’t be the same without apple cider! So why not serve cider or a signature cocktail with a cider base at your wedding? Giving cider as a wedding favor is also a great idea. We personally love this apple cider drink mix that comes in personalized cotton bags!

Desserts

There are so many sweets treats associated with fall and we say serving a couple of these treats is a must for a fall wedding! Some of our favorite ideas include a cake topped with spiced fruits, apple or pumpkin pie, caramel apples, and of course candy. Plan to take the pie route? Then you’ll definitely want to check out our favorite ways to share pie at your wedding!

Cozy textures

Fall is a great time of year to get creative with cozy textures and materials. For the groom and groomsmen, we suggest checking out suits made of materials such as tweed or corduroy. Wearing a sweater or cardigan is also a great alternative. And don’t forget to check out colors other than black – variations of red, brown, and plum are great color choices for fall!

Table setting

One of the first thing that comes to mind when we think about fall is Thanksgiving, so why not incorporate ideas from a traditional Thanksgiving table setting into the table settings at your wedding? Plates, glassware, and utensils in a warm color such as gold are amber are gorgeous choices. We also love the idea of using plates and glassware with patterns or texture. It’s so cozy and inviting! It’s also a great idea to have a properly set table. (It’s a bit on the “fancier” side just like Thanksgiving!) Be sure to check out our Simple Guide to Proper Table Setting post.

Pumpkins

Just the sight of a pumpkin and we are automatically ready for the fall season and there are plenty of ways to incorporate them into your wedding. Try carving them and placing tea lights inside for mood lighting, using them as centerpieces, as place card holders, or as table numbers.
