Countdown to Christmas! DIY your own Woodland Advent Calendar – Plus, a Video Tutorial

What better way to countdown to Christmas than with this adorable DIY advent calendar complete with woodland creatures, pretty pine trees, and filled with scrumptious chocolates? Let us show you how easy it is to make your very own advent calendar. And don’t forget to watch our video tutorial down at the bottom of this post!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Fake snow
  • Toy animals and trees (12 of each)
  • 24 boxes
  • Paint brushes
  • Hot glue gun
  • Tacky glue
  • Marker

Your first step is to assemble your 24 boxes and fill them with your favorite candies. Once you’ve done that, paint your woodland creatures in your paint color of choice (we loved gold) and set your animals aside to dry. While your animals are drying, use a marker to write a number on each box from 1 through 24. Use a hot glue gun to stick your animals and trees onto your box lids in no particular order.

Now that your box lids are adorned with animals and trees, it’s time for the last step. Use a paintbrush to add a layer of tacky glue on the box lid around the animals and trees. Then simply stick your fake snow onto the box lid. Lastly, we decided to sprinkle some fake snow onto our toy trees to make them look a bit more festive. That’s it! Now you’re all set to start counting down to Christmas.
